A significant down day, and the first time in a year with 4 down days in a row.
Oil broke down hard below $50, and the markets didn’t like it. The VIX spiked as high as 21.29%, and closed right at about 20%. The Dow closed at 17,501 which is 600 points below levels a couple weeks ago. This seems bad, but keep in mind it is only 3.3% off the highs. It is not uncommon to fall 7-10% before bouncing in Jan.
TODAY
I still have no idea where the market is going. Despite the longest bull market in history going strong, where we continue the run from is unknown. I still think we will go a little higher, but where the run starts from may be 500 points lower. Who knows? I just don’t take opinions or big positions in January.
